Thank you for checking out my listing! Up for bid today is an original real photo postcard of a woman, noted as Mrs. Lafe (Lafayette) Craft, standing on the porch of her craftsman home. The structure depicted may be a kit home, as the exterior layout is extremely similar to the Harris Brothers Company N-1026 and the Aladdin Plaza. Both the Aladdin Co and Harris Brothers Co kits have their differences, but the overall design is extremely similar, so maybe this was from a competitor? Kit homes were extremely popular at the turn-of-the-last century, being manufactured by large companies such as Sears Roebuck & Co and Montgomery Ward, as well as smaller companies such as the two mentioned above. I cannot say for sure that this is a kit home, but the similarities to the two mentioned models are peculiar. Regardless of the manufacturer, the card shows a beautiful home from around 100 years ago! The card has the NOKO symbol on the top right corner where the stamp goes. This design, according to online resources, was used from 1907 to 1929, which would fit in with the era of the house. The location is sadly unknown. The postcard is in good condition. It was never postmarked, but does have the name, presumably of the woman pictured, on the reverse. There is wear throughout the card. There are a couple of bends, which I tried to photograph, but there are no major creases across the field of the card. There is a crease at the top left corner, and the bottom two corners have been bumped. The top right corner is missing. There is some slight staining on the front and back from age, and some scratches on both sides as well. A very small tear, measuring about 1/8 inch in length, can be seen right-of-center on the bottom. The image is still very clear, and some wonderful details can be seen on the structure and the surroundings. The attached photos begin with two from a scanner, the remaining 10 taken from a camera, all trying to best capture the condition of the card. Once again, this is for the original card and not a copy.
Overall this is a nice RPPC of a possible kit home, and just of a beautiful 100+ year old home regardless! This would be a fantastic addition to any architectural imagery collection or catalog home collection!
